The Coach

Tom Schmidt has been head coach of Man-of-War since 1988. He has over 30 years of coaching experience in California and South Carolina. He has served four terms as South Carolina Swimming LSC's Age Group Chairman and has been a member of the Executive Board and Technical Planning Committee.

Tom, a former high school and college All-American, has coached a national record-holding high school relay team, numerous state record holders and the South Carolina Zone Team.

Tom held world ranking in both 800 and 1500 meter freestyle and was a National Champion in the 1500-meter freestyle as well as a member of two World Record relay teams. At the University of South Carolina, Tom was the first Division I All-American in USC's history.
